Joey Badass to play Inspectah Deck in Wu-Tang Clan series


Last month, after the premiere of Wu-Tang Clan: microphones and men, an interview by DJ Juanyto for HOT 97 in Staten Island with members of the clan and his extended family suggested that Dave East might not be the only rapper to appear in an upcoming biopic. Joey Bada $$’s name was mentioned, but no further information was provided.

In May, Sacha Jenkins directed and co-produced (with the Clan) the quartet Microphones and men documentary on the history of the Wu-Tang Clan. It included interviews and previously unseen archive footage. After its Sundance debut, the series is available on Showtime. The team followed up with a seven-track project, including four new songs from multiple members.

MC / producer Inspectah Deck is currently working on her first solo album for almost a decade. The MC invited producers to sample using the TrackLib database to submit songs. The next LP will draw exclusively from those submissions on the service endorsed by Prince Paul, Erick Sermon, Statik Selektah and others. Producer T-Minus allegedly used the sample database to legally authorize a sample of J. Cole’s “Middle Child”. He came out for the last time Manifesto in 2010.
